Is there still 12 GPU limit?

Is there still 12 GPU limit? perhaps Otoy should sell a special license for extra $$ that can be used on 24 or more gpus, but without the issues of having to get another PC!

Sorry to ask but how you get even 12 GPUs on one PC?asher wrote:Is there still 12 GPU limit? perhaps Otoy should sell a special license for extra $$ that can be used on 24 or more gpus, but without the issues of having to get another PC!
Risers, splitters, expansion boxes, even mobo extenders...atnreg wrote:Sorry to ask but how you get even 12 GPUs on one PC?asher wrote:Is there still 12 GPU limit? perhaps Otoy should sell a special license for extra $$ that can be used on 24 or more gpus, but without the issues of having to get another PC!
I have slots for 3 and they are so close to each other that I only can have Titan Black and GTX690

Ah ok, I might check them out though I am very happy with current setup but of course any render is never fast enoughrappet wrote:Risers, splitters, expansion boxes, even mobo extenders...atnreg wrote:Sorry to ask but how you get even 12 GPUs on one PC?asher wrote:Is there still 12 GPU limit? perhaps Otoy should sell a special license for extra $$ that can be used on 24 or more gpus, but without the issues of having to get another PC!

And then you have dual cards like 690 and TitanZ
There are a few nice threads about all thos things on this forum... Go and find them if you want to know more about it... Very interesting threads!
I can't even imagine that but 4.5KW, aaaaargh....I have enough heat with my two computers always on, I could never get that much cooling to be able to live there as wellasher wrote:Yep , 11 780Tis on one very large box, 4.5K of power consumption and of course, the issue of 4500W of heating.
A nightmare.
But renders leaving skidmarks.
Awesome !!Goldorak wrote:We will revisit this in octane 3.
When we first purchased Octane we understood that to be able to render with LWSN over the network we would need an additional license for that other machine...even if both machines only had 1 GPU. Is that still the case? If so, what is SLAVE mode and how can that be used in Lightwave? Or is that stand alone only?Lewis wrote:It doens't have ot be in same machine, you can have 2 or 3 machines with multiple GPUs and render over network and currently Octane license allows you to use MAX 12 GPUs at same render/frame/still... So it would be good if OTOY rises that number up a bit nowdays when multi GPU+network slaves solutions are more common.
