Help with Network Render Slave Machine...

I've gone through all of the network rendering topics, and set up my network accordingly. Unfortunately, my master does not see my slaves, and I have no way of knowing if the slaves see the master. I have Octane Standalone licenses for both machines (running Win 64 8.1). I have installed and run the Daemon on the slave machine, and I even setup a shortcut for octane_slave.exe using the path name specification as someone mentioned in the network rendering tutorial thread. I also disabled the firewall on both machines, in case that might have been the issue, but no joy.
When I run Octane standalone on my master machine, it does not see the slaves. On the slave machine, I have successfully logged into OctaneLive, and everything is OK in that regard.
Any advice anyone? I am soooo close I can taste it, but I have really hit a wall here (network stuff is not my strong suit.)
Thanks...

hi,
in general net render is easy to setup but sometimes there could be some issues, have you already read this post by abstrax about net render?
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 20#p240111
there is a link for installing some logs files that could help for finding and solving the issue.
ciao beppe

I suspect that the daemon scan subnet is the problem, as it appears to be searching only 24 locations. my slave machine is at .31 and I have no apparent way of editing that. FYI, Team Render works fine, this issue is unique to Octane. I really want to get this resolved ASAP, as I just spent quite a bit of cash building this machine for the purpose of using it to render with Octane over the network.

Probably you checked all below, but ..
Are you sure you are running exactly the same Octane versions?
you have to run "run_installed_daemon.bat" to start the slave,
not "Octane_slave.exe" (You have to install the Octane_slave.exe only once, and after that start it with the bat file)
Are you sure you no other (second) firewall running (windows or from virusscanner)?
Can you show printscreens of your steps from master and slave,
so we might be abel to help you better.
Greetz,

Hi Rappet,
thanks. I have enjoyed your build posts tremendously!
Here are screen caps of my two Octane installs. You can see that they are identical. On the left is my master machine, and the right, the slave.
And this image shows the Octane Slave Daemon that is running:
As far as firewalls and virus blockers, I disabled both on each machine, per comments online, and no difference.
Here is a screen I just took of the Octane Standalone on the Master. Next, I am going to create a tunnel for Octane processes in the firewall. I have never done that type of thing before, but hopefully it is not difficult to figure out...
Anything else you would like to see?

Ofcourse you are, but checking... And you do actually have a network conmection between the two pc's?
Have you tried the other way around (switching master and slave)?

enable "Auto-configure master port" (on preferences master)
edited:... MMM? Thought that could be it, coz'it was different with my settings, but that seems not to be it.

I do have a network connection between the two. The version comparison image is a cap of both c: drive windows from my master, proving the connection. Also, I can render just fine with Team Render in Cinema, another form of verification. I just enabled Octane in the firewalls of both machines, and the results were still the same.
I will try the process in reverse, and run the slave daemon batch scripts on the master machine to see if I get different results.

My Master Network Port is 1025 (with auto-configure) and yours 21000 (without auto-configure)
