Z-depth banding....in 32 bit??

I cant seem to render a 32bit Z- depth pass that is without banding. What is most frustrating is that the Z-depth image shown in the picture viewer layers is smooth and has no banding.

Why then is my 32bit tiff files showing banding?

Also, in Octane settings the PNG file format can exist as a 32 bit file - great! However, in C4D settings it can only be a 16 bit file... so what is rendered 32 or 16bit?

....I still cant upload any images onto this site.... any idea why?

Thanks,

You'll see correct result when import saved image to picture viewer. Picture viewer shows correct result, change or tweak your viewer. Propably it suffer from displaying problems.
Also check your render settings, it works correct if you set fine.
