i have a quadcore AMD pc with 8 GB of ram and when i render with gpu everything and especcially the mouse is working with a delay (the mouse jumps continuously!!), It is frustrating and makes working with the pc difficult.I have a GTS 250 nvidia.Does anyone know why??
thanks!!!

I guess your card is completely busy with rendering, so there is nearly no performance left for window re-drawing.
Solution: Use two cards. One high-end nvidia for rendering and a cheap one for the anything else.

the think is that most people here use only one card. I know my card is behind in capabilities and low on cuda cores, but will the problem persist if i will use one gtx 470 for instance for both rendering and working?

yes, it will still go sorta slow (I have the 470 myself)... lots of users do have two or more cards, usually a mid-range or Quadro for display only. It's really worth it

I think this is a very little price to pay as octane is very fast you can pause the render if you tweak the material or even lower the subsampling (see tutorial vidéo)
I'm gona update my workstation (wich is already a quadro in agp slot) with a gtx 460 in the PCIe one. Hope the two can work simultaneously because working in realtime would be very usefull...

I bought a Quadro FX 580 on Ebay for about $100. It means that when I'm not running Octane, I have great graphics performance on both my screens, and when I am running Octane, I get good interactivity on the Octane screen, while the second screen slows down.
It's a relatively cheap and effective solution. I guess a better option might have been to have two similar GPUs: then I could use one for most rendering, and both (with diminished interactivity) for final or batch renders.

The new PMC render kernel use smaler work chunks so that the interactivity is much better.
So much i know, it is also on their todo list to implement it for DL and PT.
Meaning, that you don´t need a 2nd card in the future...
