The White House

After getting the Titan X up and running I am finally able to get my White House model into Octane

Was a lot of fun to play with the nice DOF.
I'm happy to mention that my model was used for the official White House Military Office plaque!

Hope you like it, more will come.

Why macro focus for top picks?

@Elvissuperstra007: Why not?
Another one:
Have to see if there's something like an architectural camera available that keeps the vertical lines straight.

Finally a great piece of classical architecture. Fantastic work!
Some questions:
1. Do your Ionic shafts obey entasis rule? This is barely visible or if so, what is a proportion of the top to bottom diameter of the Ionic shaft (for Ionic I usually follow 5/6 rule or 52.25/60 after Palladio).
2. Is the Ovolo in the window cornice after any documentation/photograph? Usually I saw Cima Recta.
BTW - did you model the entire building using any plan or photos only?
Tell us something more about modelling application, how much time did you spend on this work.
I'd love to see more shots from this work.
Congratulations!

Yes - there is a perspective correction option but don't use it that much - distortions are introduced with this option. It's much better to use the same Y coordinates for the target and camera position and use mild shift to move the camera.

Beautiful piece of work! Love all of the effort you put into the details.
Just Octane Sun/Sky I'm assuming?
Are you modeling/rendering the sides and back as well?

@smicha: Thanks I'm glad you like it! I have to admit I am not an architect so I am not very familiar with all the specific terms you mentioned. I got a lot of blueprints and detailed photos of all ornaments from the Library of Congress and what I didn't get from there I had to find in night long research online. I tried to be as accurate as possible. Usually I do visual effects for movies here in Hollywood and i fell in love with the White House's architecture after working on a movie in which it was used for. I modeled and textured everything in 3ds max. Hard to tell how much time i spent on it as my job often allowed me to just spend a few hours per week on it. I will definitely render more angles

I often use putting the camera and the target onto the same height to avoid the falling lines but often that is very limiting. In Vray, finalRender ect there's an architectureal camera which is very convinient and it allows for more angles facing up and downwards. Another workaround would be to "squeeze" the render on top or bottom the straighten out the vertical lines. Just have to render at a higher resolution and overscan to compensate for that.
@Bendbox: Thanks glad you like it! Every side of the White House is modeled and yes, many more angles will follow

This is a hdri I am using.

@jolbertoquini: Thanks!
@serkis: Thanks too!
Some more angles of the White House, not really happy with them though.
Man I really need that architectural camera

I don't want to squeeze stuff around in post and having to render overscan for that.
