"Only Camera Animation"

Can somebody tell me what this feature actually does. It does not seam to make a difference whether I check this or not. Octane still loads the entire scene between each frame costing me ALOT of time. Have i misunderstood its purpose?

With that option you only export the camera data, not the mesh data.
It also saves export time.
Import is the same because Octane is new started and must read the mesh...

This again illustrates a point that I have made in other posts. If Octane is to be taken serioulsly at all as a package that can be used for animation, it HAS TO STOP RE-LOADING BETWEEN EVERY FRAME. First of all it takes rediculously long to import the geometry into Octane for every frame. It actually triples the processing time depending on the geometry. Secondly the system sometimes freezes during import.
So if you want Octane to be a viable package for anything other than Stills and Turntable animations. You HAVE TO add a keyframing system (at least for the camera) or at least create a NODE that imports the camerapath and sends it to the tutntable system. Without these things octane is almost useless for animation. Which is a shame, because I think that octane creates the best still images out there.

Yes, it wouldn´t be the wrongest solution.
But i think a one to one connection is better.
Maybe in the next 3-5 releases.
The problem is, if every plugindev have the skill to move on that...

Camera animation just skips the export of the geometry and only updates the camera data for each frame. Unfortunately Octane has to be launched every frame which still takes a lot of time.
And yes, keyframe data export or a direct connection to Octane would be nice. As discussed and explained earlier, the to-do list is not getting smaller and we have to prioritise. These workflow issues will be solved in the future, I just can't say when. We take those suggestions seriously, but the day has only 24 hours...
Cheers,
Marcus
