Alpha Lightcard??

Hi all, I'm trying to get jet engines effect with a geo lightcard + an engine exhaust texture. I'm using a diffuse material + texture emission + the texture set to opacity. I've noticed that if I use diffuse, it looks solid, If I use transmission, it looks a bit better but still has gray around the edges. Is there a way to get the light card completely invisible except for the light parts?
