Podcast (pool inside; any ideas?)

After some thoughts expressed by Martin I'm thinking that apparently this podcast idea spinning not only in my head..

Curious how much interest You Guys have on talks around Octane Render, latest features & development coverage, conversation with some well know artist leveraging this GPU engine.. (not to mention all small events, contests etc).

Ideally I'd like to keep things simple, less mess with advertising - but more like a cozy, short talk covering something interesting that wraps up all the latest news in one place (not all have too much time read every post on forums, or follow up scattered tweats/facebook posts).

feel free to vote what are You interested most & leave a comment bellow (if You wish to add anything)
I'll try to look into this case & see how to make this reality =)

cheers

P.S. Those who would like to contribute, providing anything interesting related to main topic (Octane Render) feel free to leave thoughs here of drop a PM directly. Thanks.

I'd take all of those.

When I want to go away from stress, I won't go to bars anymore. Instead I go to space with DK2 and Elite Dangerous and listen talk show podcasts while I trade stuff or do some hunting. I have listened some audio books as well, Stephen King and Sigmund Freud etc while I was exploring about 3000 light years away from SOL. :)
I have VR already in good recreational use.

Octane podcast would be awesome.

I really like all of those topics. And I think you should focus on a sound only podcast - together with video clips on tutorials mentioned in episodes etc. Think of all of us - like me with kids. Don't have time for watching YouTube all day. I can always listen to stuff and be inspired of other peoples visions and creativity.

Main focus should be on creativity and the possibilities with OTOY products I think.

Could add topics relating to general rendering ("trivia"). Like the teacup & why it's found _everywhere_ (maybe a commonly know ezample...maybe not. But you get the idea).

Ever listened to 99% invisible. It's 'design' based rather than 'rendering' based... But a good example of how to make a podcast have infinite scope & replay value .,. I hope you have a sexy/exotic radio voice Glimpse :)

Ps voted...

Pps: please don't make it another podcast mostly about hardware, it's such a set & forget consideration around the part of the (our) technology that requires the most singular thought before being ubiquitously outdated (almost overnight)...

Hardware might get you lots of kick-backs from manufacturers: but if it's not telling/teaching the majority what they want to know your listener base might suffer. Build something they (all) want/need and they will come ...

Agree with Ristoraven, your podcast idea sounds awesome.
I like to listen while working or with headphones while family in my tiny home
are watching tv. :)

I hope you can make this happen Tom! I imagine you will soon be drowning in hardware via
corporate sponsors, would be nice if you had listener contests or giveaways.

Thanks for ideas Guys. Keep them comming & for sure I'll take a good look into them as we go.

as for hardware - agree it's boring topic. Just in some cases Guys who invest want to be sure making good choise..but yeah, I'm agree to talk less 'bout tech & more 'bout art. There probably still be a corner for this too..but we try to cover more holistic approach - full systems, rather than separate parts (somewhat simmilar how I started with articles on my site: aircooled rig, watercooled rig, etc.. - but maybe in less words)

as for tutorials/workflows I'd like to bring those out from interview part, that they would carry that subjective & unique approach relevant to artist & his/her polished style. As musch as I like tutorials (step by step) as much we all need - most of them are.. too simple (repeating manual, just in video format) or too "stiff" (without explaining ins & outs) - to make something cool looking, inspiring & explain entire workflow at the same time is a chalange on it's own...- that's where I'd be looking.

I've already started some talks with some Guys who agreed/would like to contribute. I might figure out some other "bonus" materials (to podcast), that after listening we could get hands on, diving deeper into covered topics - think it would be nice to have "extra dimenssion": links (to mentioned topics), scenes (of new features), maybe videos (covering workflows that are hard to tell), etc..

Thanks again for ideas..Let's make this happen!

This is a great idea.

Personally I would be interested in the things not readily available from other sources. News and hardware info can be picked up from so many other sources its not much interest to me.

Interviews or insights into people using octane in certain industries and their workflows or pipelines would be great to know about though. Tutorials or explanations how to setup certain scenes and why they work would be great also.

Maybe have some little competitions as well with guest judges and possibly awards or prizes???

this is really cool idea Tom and Martin. i'd like to vote for all:)
as said above hardware stuff can be found easily on the web but it shouldnt mean 'do not talk any about it' cos i dont care how many Fps can Titan X give on Gta5 :) but Octane score, Oc ability, Wc rig etc.. an octaner knows what other octaners need.
as a c4d user i am quite happy with inlifethrill's tutorials. i belive a tutorial page like greyscalegorilla would be really helpful.
and sure interviews make this project colorful.

ou, yeah, no talks related to hardware that doesn't connect to Octane (not intersted in games either, nor in looks too much, though I can appreciate craftmanship).

Inlifethrill's tutorials are by far some of the most profesionally laid out learning aterial I've seen so far, even not beeing a C4D user I watch them.

Thanks for pointing out some ideas - this helps a lot to distil the shape of this =)
