How to export alembics?
Nothing happens if i check the 'Export alembic' option. Octane starts rendering as usual.
I tried it with the current stable 6.5 and with the dev version 8.5. Doesn't make any difference.

Thanks

Have you pushed the Animation button or the Render button as usual? If you want to export an alembic file you need to choose the Animation.

Yes of course.
Usually it should work with the Animation Button...

I starts processing the shaders for every frame and renders out frame by frame.

I did this last year and it worked just fine(can't remember the version).
But it's not working on 6.5 and 8.5 on Windows x64 for me.

It works. Just don't forget to enable OctaneServer :)

same issue here. The alembic button has worked a couple of times after I've installed
Version 2.72. Then I've tested a more recent version(which didnt have the abc-exporter), switched back to 2.72 and the button
didn't work no more. I've tried a lot of different setups already, but up to now without success.
I hope I can fix this, because its the only way to transfer a camera to octane standalone... :geek:

I use .abc export almost daily without issue.

One thing to try is to leave the path to a folder and not to a file.
...export/
not ... export/filename.abc

Today I reinstalled BlenderOctane 2.72 and Standalone and the .abc-file was successfully exported again...

Now, maybe I have some modifiers and materials in my blender scene, that are not supportet, but
otoys alembic exporter works no time, 90 percent of the time - At least on my pc. Also the Blender-exporter-script
is only reliable in exporting an OBJ-file.
Luckily, these guys have been writing a pretty good script to animate a camera in octane itself, which is much more reliable.

It should be possible to load camera-data via the most reliable blender .chan-exporter into this "ol ready cam"-script
to achieve some blenderToOctane-pipeline.

Sometimes it helps to shutdown and restart the Octane Server
