Exporting Shadows for animation

I'm not sure how to export shadows for an animation. I've watched inlifethrills great tutorials for the render passes, but I can't get shadows to appear in the live viewer as effortlessly as he does. :? I believe I have followed everything he does... I just see a white screen when I click on the shadows option. Exporting with multipass enabled also gives me a white screen.
In his tutorial (Part 3 - Multi-Pass Rendering with Octane Render for Cinema 4D - Render Layer - https://vimeo.com/119848103 ), he exports the multipasses to photoshop for more compositing flexibility. I'm just looking to get the animated shadows out of my scene for compositing in after effects/nuke, what is the simplest way to achieve this?

When I just look at shadows I see a white image. No shadows are visible:
Render layer no shadows

I've added an octane object tag to the cube and the floor, both on object layer 1.

I'm still a beginner (recently upgraded from 1.54 to 2.32.1) and I'm not sure what to look at to fix my issue.
Thanks, any advice is much appreciated.

I tried object ID 1 and 2 with the same results(cube and floor tags). I still see a white screen...
I have reloaded the scene as well, resending to octane with no change.
