Hi, I need advice for a psu. The system is a 5690x (with oc to 4.5ghz) with dual titan (the normal titan model from 2013).

Maybe Corsair HX850i is enough?

For Octane shall be fine. But if you are about to buy a new PSU get 1500W+ for further expansion of your build up to 4-6 gpus (2000W for 6, i.e., 3xZs).

when calculate 250W for system, 750W would be minimum,
but to cope with peaks 850W is better.

I am just repeating the advice I got from other wise guys on this forum.. and better not try to save on PSU.
Stable system is worth a lot.
Also I read that a lot of PSU give about 85-90% and even less when aging.
Do calculate with that and I would go for higher W to last l;ong with your PSU.
And also for future.. you might swap cards with newer ones the demand even more powerdraw.
(I had to upgrade the PSU twice in the same system.. I better started of with highr W for few bucks more)

what do you think? Im not going to upgrade this pc anymore, so its a close system.

mITX, 5960X & 2x TitanX? There's no such board to fit this list =) anless You're using TitanZ or mATX..or splitter..

anyway, back to the theme - don't save on power supply.. as You'll have nightmares trying to solve stabilityu issues..

I would spend a little more and go for 1000W,
considering PSU less efficient when aging and to be safe in peaks you might have.
But that is me.. rather be on the safe safe side.

so, You're going for that case & exactly the same motherboard (X99 based mATX)?

Then..what are Your future plans, budget & so on?..how crazy You're going to with Your build?

in theory that board runs three x8 PCIe links, even without raisers (but with some mods & watercooling) You can get up to 6GPUs - 3cards =) for them in case of Zs or simmilar You might need power supply smicha recomended & still would be on the edge =)


so the question, realistically, what's Your aim? Pair of cards? I'd say good 850W or any better known 1000-1200W would be more than enough..

it's not about the parts You have or the rig You're building, but the path You take..think ahead, with "what if" in mind..what if You are going to upgrade to pair of Daul GPUs? - wouldn't it be a waste to buy not only cards but extra PSU?..bigger PSU than needed now would only raise efficiency, lower noise output giving You a possibility to upgrade..

This kind of planing will help You out saving a bit upfront (even if spending extra 100-200$ now)..- the same as buying 2x 16GB dims instead of 4x 8GB RAM modules =) what are You going to do, when 32GB will not be enouhg.. throw out all & buy new? (it migh be dumb to use two sticks quad chanel configuration, but that's another question..) - this just to iliustrate planing ahead topic.
