Hi,

i am testing the demo in 3dsmax 2014 with the plugin, the only light that works is the sunlight,,not the other 2 types..is this a limit from the demo or a bug??

Does the full version of octane/ max plugin have more shaders / materials? it seems rather limited

win 7
2x GTX970

also, how does the license works? can i move from one pc to another ?

thanks...

O/.

As OctaneRender is a physically correct renderer, only a specific subset of lights are compatible.
For more information on how to configure OctaneRender lights in 3ds Max, check out the manual page on light objects here:
http://render.otoy.com/manuals/3dsMax_2_X/?page_id=97

As for OctaneRender licenses, they can be transferred from one machine to another by deactivating on one machine, then activating on another.

The de-activation can be done either in the User Interface or via the Licenses page in the Customer Area on our website.
The specific steps to de-activate in the UI of Standalone and the Plugins vary, so it would be best to check out the documentation here:
http://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/manuals/

The license server limits you to one re-activation per hour (for each license).
So, if the license had been previously activated within an hour of the re-activation attempt, the license will not activate.

Please note that all plugins require an activated OctaneRender Standalone license on the machine to function.

Yes,

the lighting setup is very straightforward, and this was not addressing the lights (other than sunlight)not illuminating anything..

They work now, all i had to do is check in Octane properties per object and make the light a 'movable proxy' maybe this is in the manual , but i would expect such a critical thing to be on by default?

thanks anyway
