still 2 major problems

Hi Ahmet,

I post it here, because it happens the same also in earlier versions.

1. Problem:

I can render pure images without problems in larger sizes like 7.000x7.000px or 12.000x12.000px.
But when I try to use renderpasses (even if I activate only "one" pass f.e. "reflection indirect" no
layer masks, no info passes etc.) my image size is limited to 5.000x5.000px.
As soon as I go over 5.000 I get an error which points to an memory issue.

Why does a single reflection-pass takes more RAM than a single image render
saved in C4D Rendersettings? (2 x Titan)
Because in Info-Kernel sadly there is no possibility to render only a reflection pass
I have the problem now, that I cannot render a refl-pass in the desired resolution.

Is there any other way I could try?

2. Problem:

When I load an object or older scene mostly whith VRay materials assigned
C4D hangs/freezes for a very long time.
Everything runs smooth again, when I delete this material.
But with a larger project with lots of materials - Trying to delete these materials takes years.
It seams that octans searches (or trys to collect materials) for missing bitmaps (don't know)
and goes into a never ending-search-loop.

Is there a way to just show a warning about missing files or to cancel this search-loop?

thanks
Mike

you are likely on a vram problem. Test your free vram amount. Each render buffer will consume extra vram from gpu.
For vray materials, send me a scene to check it. Also you may try to convert this materials.

Hi Ahmet,

sure, each buffer needs extra RAM, but what I don't understand is
why do I need extra RAM when I want to render only "1" pass/buffer?
Can I disable the beauty? (Maybe with the beauty there are 2 buffers.)

Concerning my second problem. I'm not sure I only can guess whether
its caused by VRay materials. I'll test again and send you an example.
But it comes definately from materials. The status bar says something with "collecting..."
And it never stops collecting.
So I asked if there is a way to cancel this internal octane process.

regards
Mike

1. each buffer will consume vram as main buffer. If you have main buffer+diffuse it's 2X vram. What's unclear?

2. You can't cancel anythings. Let me find that where it's stalling
