Hey guys, I took some time to prepare an instructional video on Displacement Mapping with Octane Render for Cinema 4D.
Here is the post:
Displacement Mapping with Octane Render for Cinema 4D
Hope you find some good info in it.
Best,

Very nice and clear tutorial, Dobs. Thanks.
The 'Shader to Texture' option opens up great possibilities, working with procedurals.
I use Maya for a lot of my work, and unfortunately we don't have a similar option (albeit, not for the lack of asking for this feature

).
Your tutorials are great, and if you are thinking of future possible videos, then a tutorial on displacement from either zbrush or mudbox to Octane would be cool.
Cheers.

Great tutorial!! Thank you!
I constantly have weird blackness on my displaced meshes while using 32 bit map (like maps exported from Zbrush). I wonder if there are other people having the same problem and what is an accurate displacement workflow.

As far as I can tell, the displacement shader is not a big fan of sudden changes in values in the map. That's why I tend to blur my maps just touch so that the values dont change abruptly from black to white or vice versa. It's obviously a rather limited feature at this point. Hopefully it will be perfected with future builds.
