This have any impact on CUDA performance? Any 580 v 480 benchmarks?

I have Asus ENGTX 580 for two weeks now, and it's brutal, silent, fast. Even during the animation rendering the card remains silent. Finally, i can have heating in the studio not worrying if something will overheat. I did try to open "trench benchmark" scene but octane gives some error so i can't give you the exact numbers but it does work fine on core speed of 951MHz and memory freq 4640 MHz but you'll need to increase the voltage on 1.2V. Before this card i was having gtx295 and some scenes are up to 12 times faster..... Yes, i couldn't believe myself also, but if something takes 6 minutes on an old gtx 295 and 30 sec on the new 580 that would be 12 times faster..... Now, that's just for some scenes, other scenes are 2-3 times faster so i currently don't have some general rule how much faster this card is, but it is substantial. I've noticed that you don't need the second card for the display to run smoothly, it works just fine. The glitches started to happen only on higher res. ie. 2650x1600, but since i usually setup the materials and everything else in resolutions lower than 1280x720, this card works just fine on it's own. One more thing, i used to have that thin line issue in the center of the image but after i've installed 580 the line was gone... maybe it's because of the newest drivers, i don't know but the line doesn't show anywhere.

I found myself so many times in the situation to buy 480 but because i saw some youtube video in June (and heard numerous rumors) announcing 580 somewhere near the end of the year, i've decided to hold my horses and wait for 580.... and i LOVE IT.

IMO this is a rumour, without actually knowing what the 'HPC' part is it's basically telling nothing.
There is no 'HPC' part, eg, HPC simply means high-performance-computing.

The chip is still a fermi. it's just a newer core, smaller and more efficient power/temperature wise.

I'll second that. The 580 is great.

because its so much cooler and quieter, I'm buying a second one to install in the same case.
