basically I'm tired of guessing the first time and reworking the camera; I'd like some clear distinguish of where all my corners are in poser,
so that opening the viewport and seeing in Octane is not surprising me and I like what I see. Where am i at fault?

It's not particularly clear, because the right edge of the Viewport off the screen. Octane's field of view is matched to Poser's HORIZONTALLY. Also, make sure your camera's scale is set to 100%.

Thanks

The problem you're having is, that the Poser preview window has a different aspect ratio (size) as your OctaneRender viewport (which is set to 1920x1200).
You have two possibilities to fix this:

1.) Either set your Poser preview window to the same size as your OctaneRender viewport
2.) Change the OctanerRender viewport to the same size and aspect ratio as your Poser preview window. To find out the exact size, in Poser head to: Render --> Render Dimensions --> click on "Render to exact resolution" --> then click the button "Match Document window" and it will show you the exact size in the fields above.

Hope this helps :)
