If you get this error message:
Library not loaded: /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcuda.dylib
... you don't have the CUDA driver for Mac installed (see
http://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/faqs/). You can get the driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/mac-driver-archive.html

Thanks yeah that fixed it. Still didn't work because I'm on an i5000 gpu.
Is there a way to link to the server for rendering?

You do need an NVIDIA GPU installed in your system, since Octane is a CUDA application. Regarding the cloud rendering, I can't say much except that it's still in beta testing stage.
