material override?

I'm looking for a way to convert all my materials to one nominated material at rendertime.
ie: I've assigned all my objects with various materials, but I want to render the scene with one default material. is this possible?

Hi Andrew. If this is a one-off situation, set "No Meshes Live" in the Settings, export the scene to OCS and open in Octane Standalone, then create your single material and plug it in to all the material pins of the mesh node.
If you are doing this frequently, you might want to write a Rhino script or python function to assign all the materials in the scene with a single Octane material.

Thanks,
I just found the 'clay rendering mode' in the Octane Render Viewport. I think this does the trick for me in this instance.
Is there any way to control the material used in clay rendering mode?

There is a clay, and a color clay mode - so try both. You cannot change the material used by clay rendering. There are some other options too, like rendering the AO pass.

Is it possible to have one extra step of control?
ie sometimes we like to have clay with glass and site. would be good to have a on/off pin for a material to ignore the clay override?

Hi - the Octane Clay mode does not support this - sorry. If you need "selective" clay mode, you will need to assign all "clay" geometry with a clay type (diffuse) material.
