fiber fx and instances

Not sure if its a bug, or im doing something wrong but heres what i got going on. I have a crab with fiber fx on him, and he is on a plane with instanced pebbles.
If I have fiber fx turned off, with 1 million instances of the pebbles, it loads and renders fast. If i turn fiber fx on, it takes FOREVER to load, even with instances turned down to 50k. If I turn off the pebble instances, it loads faster with fiber fx on. There seems to be something between instances and fiber fx that octane chokes on during loading.

If the loading hangs while "UPDATING GPUs", the problem can be in Octane, that can have problems if you put a lot of instances and a lot of hairs in the same place. If you want to send to me the scene I could test it here to be sure.

I am checking your scene, but it is a LightWave problem. Without Octane, using the LW native renderer it also hangs and the render doesn't start.
I let you know if I can find what is the problem and if there is a workaround.

Nope, I can't figure what could be the problem, but this is a bug in LightWave. If you disable the instances and save the scene, after reload it works. Also if you disable the FiberFX the scene renders fine. The problem is not related to the Octane plugin. Something in this scene is hanging the scene loading process.
I can report the scene to the LightWave developers (under my NDA with them) if you want. Perhaps they could tell me what is the problem, if there is a workaround and fix it for the next LW release.

yeah, that would probably be good. I have a feeling using fiber fx and instances in the same scene is a pretty common thing. Its a simple scene too, not sure what would cause it. THanks for your help.

I have reported the scene to the LW team. It is not related to the Octane or to the texture maps. Only with the scene and the models, using the native LW engine, the rendering never starts.
I let you know the news about this issue.

The problem is reported to the LW dev. team. This is the initial response:
"It's the sheer number of instances.
I'll get this to the team, see if there is some optimizing or overflow happening.
Thank you for your report."
I hope that they could fix this issue for the next release.
