Did a re-render of a scene I did a couple of years ago in Final Render. Didn't spend that much time on the materials but wanted more to see the general quality of Octane. Well, it's pretty huge difference if you ask me. I added dof on the Octane version which may not be totally fair but still.
RIGHT----> Final Render
LEFT-----> Octane

If you didn't put the same effort into creating materials, lighting & postpro (did you use tonemapping in Octane?), than this is not a fair comparison. I'm pretty sure Octane is able to reproduce the image on the right quite easily.

I forgot to mention that I prefer the Octane version way before the Final Render one..a lot.

I don't want to achieve what Final Render did. That's what I meant by saying I didn't spend much time on the materials and still it looks a lot better with Octane, at least if you ask me.
What is this tone mapping you talking about in Octane?
Here's a version of the Octane one with some playing around with the exposure control in Photoshop:

Well, I better like the Final Render image from your first post, the Octane version is dimly lit and has little contrast... but, yeah, I misunderstood you.
Your second render is much better.
Tonemapping features are located in the 'imager' tab... There you have different camera response curves you can apply, + gamma, exposure & saturation settings.

did you make a mistake with the right/left explanation?
are you saying the render on the left is Final Render? Because the left image is bad and your second post from Octane looks like the right version.

I agree on the first Octane version looking a bit washed out in comparison to the Final Render one but there's still something with Octanes render that make me feel I can touch the thing on the picture.

Try better lighting and tone mapping as already stated.
