As the the subject says I wonder if there is any way to make and render Fur inside of maya with octane?

If I'm not mistaken the tiger in Life of Pi was rendered with octane? So I guess there is a way but I simply can't find it.

"R&H added to their workflow the ability to sub-surface scatter through fur for Life of Pi (the studio's proprietary renderer Wren was used to render Richard Parker)."
