Hello!
Not used to the Windows world. I'm always updating my GTX 980 drivers with the Nvidia Experience updater. Is the most recent CUDA-driver included in that package? Or do I have to install this separate?

personally I don't like all these auto programs - I'd better go to nvidia website & download latest drivers ..when I have some time to do that..

earlier been some occasions where last drivers were not working as good as older ones..so imagine You're on the rush..this auto thing updates in the background & for "unknown reason" You're not able to work.. - this can mess things up a bit & give a bit of stress when You need it most.

O personally I like to do things manually..'cos at least You know what is f*&^76 up if things don't work anymore..

Good point. But Where do I install latest CUDA. Do you have link? And how can I see what version I have? And which SHOULD I have. So many questions.

You go here: http://www.geforce.com/drivers
add Your system details & download the drivers that are available =) don't need to instal anything more as far as I know..(at least I don't install anything more)

nVidia drivers should be see through Control panel > Programs - there You can also uninstall if needed =)

as for version I'm not sure - working with 344.75 myself - as long as it goes without problems see no point to do any upgrades =)

To re-emphasize what glimpse mentioned (man, you are all over these forums, lol), you don't need to install anything other than the normal drivers themselves for CUDA to operate properly within Octane. I use GeForce Experience myself (light gaming until I get my gaming computer back together enough to be more than a media player), but I only have it notify me of updates. I decide if I need to update or not, but at least I'm aware if there's been an update without having to go to the site. I'm kind of impatient though, and hate checking multiple places when I can just have something tell me there's an update :)

From what I gather, the CUDA toolkit/SDK thing is only required if you are looking to do something specific that requires you to have access to or modify something involving system interaction with CUDA in some way. The core technology itself is embedded in the hardware and exposed to Windows through the drivers themselves, nothing further needed on your end.
