If you make even part of your living in 3D, you are doing yourself a serious disservice by not getting a 780Ti, a 980 or one of the Titans. Any of which will pay for itself very quickly. 70s are all pretty weak. A 780Ti has way more cores... almost double I think. You can get a 780Ti for around $400. And folks are finding that out-of-core rendering does not take the hit that one would think...

I'm assuming you are limited to one GPU. Is this the case?

thanx for the replies. the problem is I'm on a Mac Pro 3.1 dual quad. i am getting the 770 modified to fit and flashed. its the fastest i can get under my circumstances. so no choice there but where i do have a choice is the ram 2gigs or 4gigs. will i see any advantage with the 4gig over the 2 gig?

Not in speed. but you will be able to fit larger scenes in memory. I'd recommend the 4gb
