Loading a White background

Hi, This seems simple, but is there a way to turn on the alpha channel, then save a PNG with a white background, or black or grey etc without it effecting the lighting or anything. Ive tried right clicking and loading a simple background image, then turning on alpha channel and it looks good in the octane viewport, but when I save the file its a transparent PNG background.

It would save time prepping files to print with a white background if this is possible! Thanks. (its mostly because rhino prints transparent images as black when used as pictureframe objects in layout sheets etc)

Hi Polywog7,

I too wish that Octane did this, but this is something on Octane's end, not the Rhino plugin.

So . . . you have an extra step. You have to open up your images in a photo editor and place in the background (black, white, colored, etc.) and flatten it. However, something that may ease this for you, is to use the automated batch process in Photoshop, if you are using Photoshop. Then you can select a folder and Photoshop will quickly open up each image and batch process the background you make. It's quick and easy.

Thanks for the response! Yeah that's been my workflow so far, I have a batch action in PS. It would be handy though. Do you know if there is a way to save as a JPG instead of PNG in the plugin window? That at least would turn the transparent white by default as JPG doesent support the transparent background.

Thanks!

If you render with the Rhino Window instead of the Octane window, then yes, you can save out as a JPEG. But, to my knowledge, I don't think you can with the Octane render window.

As Bendbox indicated, the loaded Background Texture is not output to the saved Viewport PNG/EXR file.
