NPower Power Translators - materials issue

Hi,
setup: Maya 2015 SP1 Win 64, NPower Power Translators R700, Octane 2.16 demo + Maya plugin 2.11 - 5.6 : Any Octane materials applied render as black.
It can be easily replicated using demo version of NPower Power Translators R700, available from
http://www.integrityware.com/ccc/Instal ... t_R700.exe
Standard Maya renderer and MentalRay are just fine with the same setup.
Any idea for workaround or fix?

You should ask
IntegrityWare this question...
If some third-party software ignores Octane nodes during data translation - it's not the Octane's responsibility to "fix" this...
If you like - you could post here the scene which has this problem after translation, and I can try to find out what is wrong in there.

We sometimes use Npower. But export the objects as obj to get rid of the history connections when tesselation is how we like it. That way it's easier to send to the renderfarm without unknown nodes giving errors. NPower uses Nurbs objects as an intermediate so I can imagine the conversion at rendertime doesn't understand the octane materials.
Maybe this would work for you aswell?

For my side I do the same, maybe just try to export obj or fbx and import again on maya and the node from power translator wouldn't be there anymore and is work at Octane.

have a try.

yeah, i just ran into this issue and exporting as obj then reimporting works. something really whacky is happening which seems like a maya issue and nothing to do with octane. I had already converted my model to polys and deleted all history/connections but it was still showing black till i exported and reimported.

After deleting history... try freeze transformations... it will set your object where it is at to zero in all transform nodes .... but it may save you exporting and importing etc.
Worth a shot. Many times doing that allows me to do things that fail unless that gets done.

Try with alembic for me also work really good may exist other option but if you need quick solution.

NPower does not assign UVs to the meshes. You have to add one manually and that should solve it.
If a mesh does not have any uv assigned to it, Octanerender will render it black.

Not sure about that for me I have scenes without UV and is rendering without issues also sometimes when I switch to gray shaders is working so is a bit weird but again for me export on OBJ or alembic cache for some reason resolve all.
