Rendering HD Morphs

Many of the DAZ G2 figures now have HD morphs. I read on the DAZ forum that HD morphs have to be switched on manually for them to be rendered by external renderers such as Octane. If this is the case how do I switch them on after applying HD morphs to a figure?

You don't 'switch them on' individually as such, but you do have to make them visible in DAZ Studio's viewport by adjusting the program settings (if necessary) before activating Octane rendering or they won't show up.
Don't forget to also increase the subD resolution level to 2 in DAZ Studio for the figure, or you won't see much of a change.
Cheers!

Don't forget to also increase the subD resolution level to 2
- more like level 3.
You won't ´fully see the Morph Detail on level 2.

Essentially it all comes down to the SubD...

Haven't tried that (yet), but I think it would only be worthwhile in extreme close-ups.
I'll do a few level 3 test renders to see the effect.
Cheers!

Dang you're right, it DOES make a clearly visible difference going from subDiv 2 to subDiv 3!
It is subtle, but it can still be seen 'at arms length' from the figure.
Especially those HD aging morphs have much finer lines and wrinkles.
But the cost is rather high on VRAM, and I would think render times too.
So be careful when you use it!

I'll post an example on my DA account when it's ready.

Cheers!

Here's an example of subDiv level 3 and its effect on HD detail.
Since I based my settings on level 2, it's all really a bit too much now.

SubDiv 3:

SubDiv 2:

(I've made some changes to the figure, but the face can still be used for a comparison)

Cheers!

Great renders Erik! I can also tell the difference between setting 2 & 3. There's a more realistic feel to the figure. It's subtle but evident nonetheless. The human eye must be pretty sensitive in these matters. I've had to edit the SubD parameter in DS to increase it to 3. Using the Lee figure the difference between 1 & 3 is striking.

In the past I've been twiddling those HD sliders scratching my head wondering why the figure didn't appear more detailed. It was only by chance that I read about SubD on the DAZ forum so thanks to those who replied here for your help in finally getting HD to work properly.

I'm curious, but how much more RAM.. did that take?

Have a scene with one single V6 in it:

399 MB when un-SubD-ed.
769 MB when on SubD 3.

Almost doubles VRAM usage, on this model.
