Thinksbox's Deadline

Hi guys,
do you have any experiences rendering Cinema 4D scenes, using Octane renderer via Thinkbox's Deadline Rendermanager?
Evertime i set up an submission with an octane scene my slaves won't render.
Just to make sure, the "usual" octane networkrendering with two workstation works just fine, as well as rendering normal cinema 4d scenes with Deadline.
Any ideas or suggestions?
have a nice day,
jonas

Jonas,
We have Deadline working with Octane & C4D at our studio. Which version of C4D are you using and what C4D option for network rendering are you using with Deadline? Regular standalone or through C4D Team Render clients? Second, check your slave logs to see what happens when the slaves are given a task, that should point you in the right direction for finding the issue.

hi guys!
goumz how are you submitting your jobs? we are about to configure all ours machines with that setup (c4d+octane+deadline)
we used to use the deadline plugin for c4d to submit all the jobs... is that still possible?
thanks!

i cant seem to get our 4xGPU slave to pick up renders either using deadline 7 + R16. I see in the logs - Empty Account/Password!!!
this means probably that we need to have a octane plug-in licence activated on that slave PLUS the standalone licence ?
i thought we would just need the standalone licence per slave as thats how Vray does it. anyone confirm or deny ?

as far as i know the slave only needs a standalone license because the render deamon has nothing to do with the plugin.

thanks for the link, and so the answer is yes you need a plugin licence for everything other than octanes distributed rendering. Thats going to be expensive ! i dont want to grumble but surely the point of having a plug-in licence is to use the UI to craft your scene , which is not what slaves are all about. I think Otoy should rethink this policy

Requirement for additional plugin for C4D network rendering that's not a choice of us. In this way you can't run renderer without plugin. But of course a network licensing policy will be good.

are you saying that Maxon's SDK is forcing the issue ? it seems straightforward that you should require the plug-in for workstations but only the standalone licence for slaves, not both. if its something on the Maxon side i will contact them about it but i suspect its not ? as Vray runs fine with up to 10 slaves without additional plug-in licences .

Hello There!
i am having the same issue as Studiolocal but i actually have 4 machines with standalone renderer+ C4D (R16) Plugin running. Every Machine is activated and licensed properly and is working in the everydays business.
I also want to have them as a renderfarm by night and set everything up in deadline 7 and 3 out of 4 machines are rendering well, just one machine outputs the empty Account/Password failure and i cannot get it to work even after a complete windows reinstallation.
Has anyone issued the same problem before and can maybe solve mine?
Thanks a lot in advance!
