C4D Rounded Edges Setting

Is there a certain setting or way to setup the scene to take advantage of the Rounded Edges feature in the shaders. Especially when using extruded text with bevels I find that it ends up giving me a very faceted look, almost polygonal in nature. Maybe the scale of my scene is off? Perhaps this feature is best for simple shapes.
