This is a shot i'm working on for a friend of mine.

No PS.

Any clue how i can get less fireflies on the wall? I think it has something to make with the carpet anyhow...the part of the carpet where the light is shining on seems a little bit strange.

If the wall has a glossy material, the only solution is, spend more rendertime.
Or change the material to diffuse...

Thx Face but it doesn't seem to help :D i can't get the scene better than that.
It seems i get a lot of little fireflies in my scene. I see a lot of interior renderings from users like Enrico, Andrian and Ribra and they are really clean. I normally remove the noise and fireflies with PS but i loose a lot of sharpness on the way. I wonder if it has something to do with my drivers. This scene i've rendered it till 10000 samples and that was about 6 hours time with a GTX 470. I've tried with a method i've seen from Andrian: Rendering a few shots and then applying darken on the blending mode but my scenes get very dark unless they have rendered a lot of samples so it takes a lot of time.

I've got driver version 258.96 and Cuda 3.0, but i've installed different versions on top of each other, someobody knows if I need to uninstall older drivers before installing new ones?

Just taking a guess, but behind the camera it looks like there's a wall with a window and shutters. Did you put glass inside the window?
If so, maybe try removing the glass completely and seeing if that helps. Light through glass seems to create more noise when it's your primary light source.

Hi there again,

@ tehfailsafe: Thx for the tips but there are no glass on the windows.

I've tried different settings and I found out that the problem resides in the glossiness of the floor. If I use a diffuse material there the fireflies disappear.

But then again I can't have a wooden floor without glosiness

Is it a question to wait for the next version of Octane with the new pathtracer or can those fireflies be removed with another method. I can manage some fireflies on PS but this is too much for my skills ;)

I think it's a reflective caustic (probably bounces quite a few times) from the sunlight shining on the floor, then reflecting off another very shiny object.
Does it help if you make the floor a bit more rough ?
Have you tried using a maxdepth of 6 or 8 instead of the default of 16 to see if that changes anything ?

Yes indeed if i make the floor very rough or diffuse it does dissappear but then it's not nice to see ;) . I'll take the bounces down then, it's logic, never thought of that. I'll try it tonight.

Thx for your input Radiance.
