Hi !
I'm a new user of Octane demo (standalone + C4d plugin) and I love (i mean, i loooove) this soft !!!

Unfortunatly, I work with a GTX 285 (Mac pro 2009) and i have lots of "freeze" when i'm playing with Octane.
Is there a way to solve this ? Or should i buy as soon as possible a new graphic card (probably the GTX 980)...?

I would highly recommend you upgrade. Even a lower end modern card will be far faster than the GTX 285.

Thank's for this quick answer, Fooze !
I'll try to catch up Santa Claus (he just forget the GTX 980...) !

It's certainly your video card. I have a gtx 670 and it's not even buttery smooth with the 3ds max plugin.

I'm just waiting before upgrade... The GTX 980 seems not as efficient as it should be.

Another thing to note is the GPU priority settings.
When you have only one GPU it's used for rendering and display of the UI by the OS. This means octane can start making your UI go slow when rendering.
The priority settings are designed to lower the load octane puts on the GPU so there is more "power" free to do the UI.
Also, it might help you in that it may lower the load on the GPU enough that it may reduce the frequency of hardware problems freezing your machine.
