TITAN Black: Memory Issue

Hi guys,
i just noticed that my Titan Black wont load more than 3GB in its VRAM.
I attached a screenshot where you can see it says "Memory 6 GB", "Used 1419 MB" and "Free 1529 MB"
what doesn't make sense to me.
Do i miss a Memory limitation setting?
edit:

Same with a GTX 970, the sum of Used and Free Memory is different from the overall Memory.
It's allways like 50% of the actual Memory.
So i guess its not an issue of the GPU but octane/my system?
my system:
MacPro5,1 OS X 10.10.1
GTX TITAN Black
Octane Standalone 2.13
Octane C4D plugin 2.14
CUDA Driver 6.5.25, NVIDIA Web Driver 343.01.02f03
have a nice day,
Jonas

Be aware of that system and other programs can consume some vram also.

In this case 3GB seem to be too much for these processes.
I did come over a post that said its about a polygon limit set by octane.
Seems like it is around 26mio Polys...

Also, if you're using two cards, I'm pretty sure that Octane only uses the amount of memory that your lowest memory card has. So if you have a 6gb card and a 3gb card, both will only use 3gb max.

hmm, couldn't checked well. That's correct. lowest card will limits other's ram usage

yeah i do know that, but for this test there was defenitly only this one GPU in my system.

Then it's the system using that 'lost' memory.
If you want to see all 6 gig available, put in another card, run your graphics off the other card Turn it off in Octane, as well.
You ought to have 6 gig available.

So if we go to the big picture, it seems that, with the current hardware available, 6 gigs is the maximum that can be loaded into Octane, period, as there is no bigger hardware available. Is this correct? It seems to be a huge limitation as some of our HDR's alone load about 2 gig into ram. If this is so it doesn't matter how many cards you have in a farm, the max that you can load is 6 gigs.
Maybe there are plans to make the ram additive but for right now as far as loading large scenes into Octane, this is the Achilles heel of Octane's GPU approach to the problem.
Anybody see work arounds?
And will we ever see exclusion tags? It's killing us not being able to hide stuff from reflections.

There are Quadros & Teslas that have 12GB/GPU (dual GPU having 24GB - Tesla K80).
With Pascal architecture nVidia bringing new interconect for GPUs that is going ti be faster then PCIe - hopefully developer utilise it & we are going to see shared VRAM functionality in the future =) but for now if vRam is not enough & You can not optimise scenes then 12 'pro' cards is the only solution =)

That's the price for the speed of GPU rendering.

Yes, use smaller HDRIs.

What do you want to hide and why?
