Choosing the right graphics card

Hi guys,

Long time lurker here, considering getting a new PC with a supported graphics card, so I can get to try the demo, get blown away and hopefully purchase a license!

I'm working in Poser so I suspect I'll want to get the most amount of memory I can, give it a try - with one card - and then (hopefully) scale up from there.

As a newbie, parsing the discussion on the GTX 970/980 is a bit beyond me - what's the consensus? Has the issue that seemed to cripple their performance somewhat been addressed?

I also see a few 6 GB 780 OCs with decent prices compared to the 970 (GB). Apart from the extra memory it sounds like they're more power hungry so I'll need a bigger PSU. From the memory difference alone, the 780 seems like a better option to me - your input is greatly appreciated, thanks ;)

hi boffel, it's really too soon to tell. the gtx 9xx cards are still being tested here on our end and since this is a new series, existing drivers for it are still being optimized by the card manufacturer and our guys are also still optimizing Octane for it so we still expect some changes regarding its performance with Octane.
