Single GTX 480 or double GTX 460?

Hi together,

it´s time for me to purchase a new PC, optimized for GPU rendering - as far as coverd by my budget, wondering which NVIDA Cards I should get.

Question is, one single GTX 480 or two GTX 460 for octane? ....is it only the total number of CUDA Cores that counts?

One GTX 480 has = 480 CUDA Cores in total.
Two GTX 460 have 336x2 = 672 CUDA Cores in total, which seems to be the better choice, when this values could be really summed up?

...will the RAM of 1GB and 1GB for each card also be summed up and enable scenes of 2GB for octane render?

Thanks in advance for your answer!
Best,
Cornel

A dual GTX460 setup is recommended, as you can use 1 card for display and one for finetuning your scene,
then use both for a final in a very short time.

You can also get hold of GTX460's with 2GB Vram instead of the 1,5 on a GTX480, so you can load larger scenes...

Thank you for your advice, radiance, I will get the 2x GTX460.

Another quick question:
The Evermotion review stated that meshlights are still missing, has this feature been implemented already in the current release?

Anyway, seems I have to purchase my octane license very soon...
