Background Image and Multiple Cameras (Solved, sorta)

Hi guys, I'm using the 2.06 standalone.
1)How do I change the background image to a custom color, or an image of my choosing? I'm clicking on the little "background image icon" and selecting an image I want to use but nothing gets applied, all that shows is the hdri being used?? Is it also possible to have a custom color for the background using the color picker? Sorry 2 related questions in one.
2) Is it possible to have multiple camera's? So I can set up side, top and perspective cameras and jump between them. Is that possible?

1. Select alpha channel in the kernel options. For custom color go to environment settings and change color of the sky.
2. Use render targets.

Thank you for the feedback smicha it's been very helpful!
I've managed to figure out almost all of your instructions except for the colored background, and maybe I wasn't clear in my question. What I'm trying to do is change the background color to a solid color NOT change the lighting that is on the ring which is what happens if I change the color of the sun or even the RGB color.
Is there no way to have a solid background color? There must be a way to get a raw render from octane like this right? Seems pretty standard.

Create an open cylindrical shape in your 3d software that surrounds your scene. Then apply any color to its geometry through diffuse material.

Wow..that's ghetto.. Octane Devs this is the best you can do? Literally every rendering software I own/use (modo, vray, maxwell, bunkspeed, lagoa) they all have a way to simply change a background color via rgb values but octane requires you to put geometry in place and color that geometry??? This makes no sense to me what so ever. 1) you are adding unnecessary geometry to the scene and 2) if the open cylinder is not large enough it will reflect that material color onto your object..
Again, Octane Devs this seems well withing your scope of capabilities to add an option to the background image tab that allows you to change the background color WITHOUT effecting the scene.

Another solution - render your scene with alpha channel on. Then apply the color in Photoshop on a separate layer.

Yeah I think that's the best solution but I would love for Octane to develop my request..
It would be great to be able to hide a ground plane that's used as a shadow catcher and simply change the background image to a solid color and vuala you have an instant product shot.

Use geometry -> object layer map to hide the object.

... and connect object layer to a desired pin. You can then disable camera visibility.
