WIP - Jellyfish Animation - asking for feedback

I have created an animation scene of jellyfish. The idea is to set up a movie that kind of brings up the feeling of deepness and silence of deep sea with its elegant yet creepy animals. This first try is just a start/proof of concept, more creatures/scenes should follow.

I am asking you for feedback if this is going in the right direction or if I missed something important.

Thanks

Ron

Are these phosphorescent jellyfish? Also, are they based on reference images? I just googled glowing jellyfish and not seeing any that look quite like this - that interact with light like these... the transparency/translucency/emissions seems a little funky... You picked a very tricky subject to render for sure. This is not my specialty though, so don't listen to anything I am saying. ;) Overall, pretty cool. Keep at it. But, if it were me, I would probably wait and see if volumetrics and particles are added soon before going too crazy on this project. Underwater stuff will benefit so much from those.

I am an ambient freak (specifically dark ambient like Kammarheit, Svartsinn, Troum, Yen Pox, Alphaxone, Thomas Koner, Phaenon etc etc...) and I really do like your tune - even though I tend to prefer darker. You made that?... If so, be a pal and whip me up, say, a half-hour version of Portal's "Taste of Blood"... God I wish I could make music...

These creatures are not based on reference images. My intention is not to simulate nature but to catch the atmosphere we find in deep sea with the elegance of creatures living there.
The jelly-look with its specific translucency is not finished yet - I am still experimenting with it.

Yep - the sound was made by myself. Nothing extraordinnary. Anyway -. nice that you like it :-)

Thank you for your feedback

Hi Ron,

I really like it but two things struck me. The first was the title - which I love - but then... you break that silence with the music. Ok, perhaps that's being a bit literal but it's worth thinking about how you introduce sound with such a title. The second thing was that the idea of exploring the deep is alluring, but there is almost no light down there. So why not introduce the idea of simulating artificial light instead of simulating natural light, which is what your ambient looks like to me. You can have so much fun with this. Creatures appearing and disappearing out of the light. The light searching behind a rock to see what is lurking in the shadows. And the accents and sss with those yellyfish could be stunning. And the lights could change colour, making it even more interesting. Anyway, just my thoughts from the sideline.

I really like the project and I see a lot of potential.

Best,
Seeker
