hi everyone,
this is an old model of a technics 1210mkII turntable i made years ago with blender.
I tried to set up the materials in octane, but it looks as if there“s still a lot of work to do...
any constructive criticism is welcome:)
btw i have real problems navigating the scene in octane. You can see it in the 2nd crooked pic.
It always feels as if the origin of the model is outside the model, so when i rotate in 3d view, the cameraview looks askew.
Is there any option to orbit around selection (similar to blenders)?
thx dave

Hi
Very nice model/render.
You can reset the camera up-vector in the camera section. You need to set the values like this (x,y,z) = (0,1,0)
Hope this helps.

Kim

thx and yep i am happy again:)
I got some problems with the 2.3v5:
When drag some mat from the liveDB to the node editor and then make a connect to some mat in my obj-node, octane crashes all the time reproduceable. Even saving the mat locally before connect to obj-node did not solve the prob.
When i drag the material directly onto the scene it works fine without crash!?
But this way i dont know how to edit the mat in the nodeeditor..
edit: i tried it with a another much more simple scene and everything works fine -no crash, so at last it must depend on my mk2 scene.. ??
edit2: NO its not THE mk2 scene: I reimported the scene out of blender into oct, now it works without crashes. The problem must depend on some material editing inside octane i already made... but what exactly..?? Maybe because i already used the mat out of the liveDb database via dragNdrop into the scene but without changing its name.. or something like that...
Anyone any ideas how to solve?
best regards dave

I think there are still some bugs there with using livedb.
It used to crash in other ways too. You probably just found something else that isnt quite finished.
Perhaps just add your bug report to the v5 thread with the others so Refractive are aware of it and can fix it....when ever they get back to development that is.

hi,
i added some more details:
I am searching for some more knowledge how to setup different materials correctly. Is there any list about spec/roughness values for specific materials?
