Second GPU for GTX 980

Hi,
What other GPU would you recommend for the GTX 980 4 GB I have now to get a significant performance increase for Octane in Archicad?
I don't say "best" because I don't have unlimited budget right now. And I've noticed already some restrictions for the performance of the single GPU, despite its computing number(5.2).
Cheers
Marek

Hi Marek,
If 3gb is enough for you I would recommend the 780Ti (€400-500)
If 6gbs needed the Titan Black (900€?) is best if you cannot get your hands on a 7806gb version (cheaper)
TitanZ (1500€) would be best investment when decided going for Titans: you have double performance while price is not dounled.
but then you must higher budget to start with.
Cheers,

Or wait and see when and what the 900 serie will do ... developers are making Octane optimal for those cards.
PS
Tip... Next time Post it in general forum... Bigger chance to get more respond on general question.
In this forum more likely people interested in Archicad plugin are visiting.

check version OctaneRender™ Standalone 2.13 - they made quite some changes to increase performance on Maxwell based GPUs =) might be a deal breaker & getting second GPU from same architecture might be a good deal =)
overall Rappet put some good thought =) for quite some time gk110 based cards (780,780Ti, Titan, TitanBlack & TitanZ) were the best chooses You can get in terms of performance & sometimes value (780 6GB or after recent price drops even TitanZ =)

Whoa!
Nowhere else for me to look for the answers! There is no forum like this one.
Thank you guys so much I really appreciate this, actually to ask the question at night here and have it answered next morning is a very good way for a great beginning of the day!
Marek
I'll wait a little to see what the developers will come up with before I get what you recommend.

agree about this forum! =) a lot of friendly people around who share their knowledge on any topic =)
Marek, check this post on benchmark thread:

Guys already benching with new release =)
anyway if You're working on heavy CAD data & programs that have optimised drivers consider having Quadro/FirePro cards for screen, leaving GTX purely for rendering =)..
Seems OTOY's developers made some good work rewriting code for to take advantage of new cards, source:

Hi,
I have to say my findings with Archicad are very good with the GTX cards, but maybe that is not such a heavy CAd program... or it might be a heavy CAD program, but just samrt with GTX too? Just wanted to let know the gtx580 did great on Archicad.
And also with Sketchup, Artlantis, Corel Draw and Cinema4D the GTX cards work fine for me so far. (I have to say I justed played a little bit with C4D, so I cannot really just here).
cheers again,

cheers again,
Quadros only beneficial on specific applications ..there are some graphs, benchmarks..
Personally I have no need to jump on PRO range, but I know some Guys who are working on heavy stuff & they said the difference is noticeable..but as I've mentioned, You need to check performance on specific program.. as majority will not be effected at all (in that case buying PRO grade cards it's just a waste of money for features You don't use, the same as Tesla/Quadros will not speed up render times with Octane over GTX cards..).
There's no good or bad piece of hardware, just one that fit or don't to Your specific needs =)
