OctaneRender™ for Blender 2.06 - 6.5 Win [OBSOLETE]

OctaneRender™ for Blender plugin. Windows x64 version.

The bundle consists from two parts:
1. OctaneRender™ Server
2. Blender - OctaneRender™ edition.

The first part (server) should be run on the same computer as the second one. To stop the server - just right-click its icon in the tray.
After the server is run - you can start rendering (or open a rendered view) from inside Blender. Before the very first rendering you should fill in the server address (only 127.0.0.1 at the time), login and password (your license key info) to activate the server. After the first rendering the server will remember this activation info, and you will not need to enter it again.

You should use only OctaneRender materials inside Blender scenes - the plugin knows nothing about Blender specific materials and textures (about any Blender nodes, generally speaking).

FIXES AND NEW FEATURES SINCE LAST RELEASE
  • Fixed coordinate space bug in Projection nodes (reported by aLeXXtoR).
  • Fixed modified geometry bug (reported by RajivMudgal).
  • Improved license activation proccess. Now you have the separate "Octane server" rollout.
  • Linux libs are now included into Linux installer package.
  • Minor fixes...

After starting OctaneServer it will take some time before the LiveDB tree and LiveDB material previews will be available from Blender - as OctaneServer caches the LiveDB data from remote server right after starting. But only the materials groups tree will be re-cached every time after server start, LiveDB material preview images will be cached only once - so only the very first OctaneServer start will need some more time before LiveDB tree will be available in Blender.

Thanks, JimStar!

There is one another issue that I forgot to report and it occured again this night: if I render my scene with Sampled Motion Blur and if all objects (and camera) in the scene have no motion in the given frame, Octane correctly renders only the 1st pass and skips all other (at least it looks this way) — in result I get a very grainy frame.

Thanks!

P.S.: not a bug, just a notice (for animation artists first of all): Sampled Motion Blur is pretty slow — I had to set amount of samples from 15 to 20 to get smooth results, but because of server-client exchanges render time increased by about 30-35% per frame. Does anybody tested render speed difference w and w/o native MBlur in the Standalone?

Hey Jimstar I think I've found a bug. There seems to be artifacts inside the mesh using the specular shader. Do you know what is wrong here?

This is caused by the bottom of the pyramid and the plane occupying the same 3ds space.
Either move the plane down a fraction, or the pyramid up, or remove the base plane of the pyramid.
(this problem is not limited to octane alone - see the attached screenshot of blender doing something similar in the 3d viewport when viewing the underside of the plane where the pyramid base is as well).

I can't reproduce it on my scenes... Could you perhaps give me the scene where it is reproduceable for you?..

Hi Jimstar,

I have been away from Blender and Octane for a while due to health troubles, and I just discover the 2.x Plugin. Thanks a lot for the great work. :)

Just in case you wouldn't know : I have had to copy/paste the MSVCR120.dll and VCOMP120.dll files from the official Blender release into the BlenderOctane folder, as they were missing in the release. Not a big deal though !

Well, first trials with the 2.06 - 6.5 Win : When looking in the preferences, no GPUs are found in Cuda field. Even if I select Cycles render. Precision-X Gpu monitor shows that GPUs are working for Octane, but it is annoying because I will have to switch between the official Blender and Blender for Octane in my workflow, instead of just switching the Render engine within Blender when needed...
