Jellyfish texture

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out how to create this jellyfish texture within Octane. Here's a photo for reference:

As you can see, it's top part has this frosted glass look to it, but on the underside its very translucent with veins. I've already drawn out the vein texture, now I'm just trying to figure out what the best way is to set up the texture to achieve the look i'm going for. I tried glossy and diffused textures on the inside and outside with some transparency, but as I rotate around from the bottom to look at the top, the veins only seem to appear in certain areas:

Should I be looking at SSS maybe? I'm just not sure where to begin. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I'm not sure it could be the best solution but i would try to use a mixMaterial with a specular and a diffuse (with a very low emiter inside). In the amount of the mixTexture, a mix of veins (not in my sample below), fallof and dirt. In the emiter, a fallof in the efficiency of texture. I think the SSS would take to much time to render in this case.

But well... it's just an idea...
