Displacement Artifact

Hi,
I am currently getting the artifact below when using displacement. I believe I have found the source of the problem to be with the way the model is triangulated upon bringing it into the standalone. I have posted this in the revit forum as I have exported it through the revit plugin.

Previous discussion in revit forum: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=42956

This seems to occur regardless of any ray elipsion settings or the rendering type, pt, pmc, dl, etc. Also I have tried combinations of height and offset displacement properties, height does seem to reduce the effect, but it has to be a very small amount of displacement, to the point where almost no displacement can be seen. Can any body give me some help with this issue.

Many Thanks,
Chris.

Hi Fooze,
Please find the obrx attached. I have exaggerated the displacement beyond what I would normal use to show the effect more clearly as when I cut the scene down in size the effect was less pronounced. Whether this is from the fact that there is less materials using displacement or less mesh I'm not sure. I have approximately 5 materials being displaced in the main file and where ever there is mesh being triangulated this artefact can be seen.

Many Thanks for you help,
Chris.

Hi, Remove the normal map and this should solve your problem.
Normal/bump and displacement currently aren't compatible with each other (usually displacement is superior anyway).

Thanks
Chris.
