Nice find.
Element3D is an amazing plug-in, indeed.
And Andrew Kramer is a very, very funny guy :)

Cheers.

what do you like here? I think this is very limited renderer and not a pathtracer really. Yes you can do many things and there is not real competitor yet.

Damn linvanchene,
I am giving you +1 for many things, among which for the comprehensive, logical and time consuming post, mate :)

Still, like you said, direct comparison between the GPGPU renderer Octane and Element3D is not reasonable.

Cheers dude.

thanks for too long list. i know all features. but your answers not a answers for my expectations. if you read again you may reply for renderer limitations. Also you know this plugin's features but you have not idea about our's. You might estimate what would come if you have used C4D plugin.

if you want to help you can write what are you wanting for a octane. in AE.

thanks for interest

So please just have a look at the videos and ask yourself:
How could each single Element 3D option you can spot in the videos be integrated in the OctaneRender plugin for After Effects?

What are you trying to refer with this comments, i'm not sure. You may not talk about things and people which are well known by you. I asked for getting some helpful comments by people, but only i can see aggressive words. I don't wanna start a discussion like a comparison between a long-life tool against not-available product.

So this would be my last message about AE plugin until it revealed. Sorry to all people for confusion.

Best,
Ahmet

I would love to see some of element 3d's render engine speed incorporated into octane.

Now I know it's not a fully featured renderer but hear me out. Octane has a 'fake' rendering mode DL/AO but even when selected DOF will be noisy, blurry reflections noisy, basically it can take almost as long to 'denoise' as PT. I'm guessing only the AO is faked but all the reflections, highlights, DOF is still path traced?

In comparison because element 3D is faking everything, there is no noise at all and takes seconds to render each frame, results are surprisingly good. That's a huge deal if you don't have 5-10 minutes to wait per frame.

I have both 3dsmax and AE/element 3D and there are times I have to use element 3D. I wish octane had some fake mode that was as fast. I know the limitations of element 3d are huge, but if we're going to have a fake AO mode in octane, why not offer more cheats to get noiseless renders quickly.

You, guys, want fake, but then you start complaining why my glass is black with AO, why my ceiling is black with some hdri, bla bla bla and so like that.
If you like speed so much, just press Print Screen button in your 3d application.
You want octane being as fast as all this fake renders and as realistic as PT/PMC. It doesn't work like that.
