Can you allocate only part of a card for rendering?

Right now I have 2x 780 6gb cards for rendering and 1x Quaddro 4000k for my display. Is it possible to replace my 4000k with another 780 but only use part if that card for display purposes and the rest for rendering? For CPU rendering you could allocate only some of the cores for rendering...is this possible with GPUs?

You can turn on render priority for the card in Octane's preferences. Then you can set the priority to low, medium, or high for all the cards that are set to use render priority. This helps when you only have one card and need your computer's GUI to be more responsive. Low uses the GPU the least, high the most.

Awesome. Looks like I might have another 780 in my future

. Thanks.

I would test the priority options first if I were you. I can't tell the difference between any of them. It seems the GPU is running max power no matter what.

I'll let us know what I find out with testing my setup.

Same here, I suspect the feature is broken, but nobody noticed it...

already talked in forums that for some this feature doesn't make any difference, I mean doesn't matter how You leave it..if monitor is plugged into card that is rendering sluggishness couldn't be avoided..- but for some it is working so that's a bit of a mystery =)

It works very well for me when using Octane Standalone. Plugins not so much so export to Standalone to get best results. When setting it to medium my card is lowering render power to 88%. On Low it's between 80 and 85% power. I wouldn't be able to work in other applications if it wasn't for the throttle priority.
But I see many use it wrong like checking all the cards which will throttle all of them when you only need one which is the one using the monitor. Or they simply pick the wrong card to throttle.

I find that very strange myself, now that I'm down to just one 460, I wouldn't be able to use Octane without the render priority. I suspect that the more powerful your card the less difference you will notice.
