animation region rendering

Region render on octane render viewport is great but no good when is necessary to render a region of an animation. Either the max region render feature is activated on the max frame buffer or the octane render viewport starts saving the render images.

Just as an example, my client decided to change a building that appears on one sides the animation and is visible in over +2K frames. Instead of rendering a small strip I have to re-render the whole animation at the full res.

As an alternative I could also render with matte objects but apparently the ambient occlusion is baked on the alpha of the object with matte material so it's completely useless.

We have been doing region render with our animation. For small things it works, you just have to do it in small parts because the region doesnt move with the camera.

2k frames may be too long.

It would be great if we could animate it like a mask in aftereffects, but that is probably easier said than done.

You could do a region render that is a decent size, then use a mask you make in your 3D app to just have it where you want.

Would you mind sharing how are you region rendering during an animation and still save the rendered images? Are you using octane or max render window? As far as I've manage to test it doesn't render regions in max render window and doesn't save the render files in octane window.

We have some luck with region but its really not a good solution. Our solution is to narrow the FOV and use camera offsets to focus on the region, then render reduced frame size. Its really not ideal though as it needs to be manually located over the existing footage.

An animated region would be good.

I've tried FOV but does't work well when vinhetting was used on the first renders. An animated mask would be great but anything that allow to render region on animations will be a great help.

Yes, we need Max region support too.
