It wouldn't be a bad idea, having an integrated noise reduction function in the camera settings.
What do you think?

Octane Do have noise reduction & not one, but actually three parameters that are making noise, fireflies, less visible.. but in the end You need to balance light & optimise file, get enough resolution - then You can expect good times & reasonably clean image =)

last time I render bigger to resize in PS, I had a problem : noise was very regular (as a pattern) and when I resize down my render, I obtain a moired image due to this pattern... noise was reinforced.

We use neat video for our images. I think the PS plugin is called neat image. Seriously great tool for cleaning up images.
