Optimize lights?

If I understand it correctly Octane Render triangulates polygons on import. Will this also mean that a 4 sided polygon will be split to two light sources if I use it for emission?
So to optimize better a 3 sided polygon would be better for lights to keep fireflies at a minimum?

Why not use the specific tools that can clear fireflies from a render?
octane has a hotpixel removal tool, GI clamp and 100 max rejects and all of these can get rid of fireflies. Sure these options are amazing to reduce render times quite a bit. Also strong reflections contribute to adding more bright pixels in the scene so reducing this value will help as well.

I would much rather optimize the lights to keep a crisp, clean and better looking image and get faster render times. Hotpixel remover blurs the image and remove details. GI clamp removes lights from shadows. And if you have too many light sources the image can still be grainy even with all the smart tools enabled - and of course you have longer render times. You might be fine with that. I'm certainly not.

Having lower poly light emitters may save some rendering time (although going from 4-sided to 3-sided may not make any noticeable difference), but I don't believe it will do anything about fireflies. To get rid of those, either use the tools mentioned above, up the max samples, or render at a higher resolution and then scale it down. Raising Caustic Blur to 1.0 can also help, depending on the scene.
