HDRI goes like this
The more blurry it is the less artefacts you get
Try that, open the HDR file in Photoshop, do a small gaussian blur, save the HDR with the hdrname_blurred.hdr
Reload the blurred HDR in Octane, try to render and compare the two renders.

I don't understand very well..
The noise due to hdri?
If i do a small gaussian blur in final image i have a clean image?
Thanks

Hi,
The higher amount of noise is due to bright areas on the HDRI map.
A small amount of reflected rays find these bright spots,
giving more variance/bright contributions.
The solution is to let it render a little bit longer.
I need to develop more advanced algorithms in the near future that make situations like this less noisy.

If you can, try and apply a Gaussian filter the HDR map you want to use. This should theoretically smooth out those problem spots!
This is a trick I used to use in LW, processing options which meant I didn't have to destroy or make a new HDR

@Radiance: Would be neat to have an option to blur and to edit the hdr-range (clip) of the background image inside of octane. This will help tweaking rendertimes.

i could add a button to clip it, but clip where ?

it depends on the average intensity i guess...
i'll think about it.
EDIT: one thing to remember is that when MLT is available all these issues are suddenly less important.

I quickly knocked up a preview showing a normal HDR image vs Gaussian HDR image.
Having controls would be great, but I'm sure you have tonnes on as it is...
