Saving Octane Render Materials with Subsets?

When I create a scene I often adapt the original DAZ materials or replace them with new OR materials. For example, I saved a clothed figure as a subset but when I merged that figure into a new scene and clicked auto materials the original materials are applied without my changes to them. How do I save a figure/object in a scene as a subset with all its changes to materials in OR so that when I merge it into a new scene all those material changes are retained? I just can't figure out how to do this and it's driving me nuts! I end up spending ages copying material settings from the original scene to the new scene. There must be a better way...

Ok, after another search I found a comment that answered my question. Apparently Subsets don't save render or environment information. To test this I saved the figure as a scene instead of as a subset and then loaded it into a new scene. Thankfully this worked because my figure appeared in the scene including its correct OR materials so I didn't even have to auto generate them.
I really wish it was possible to have the option to save subsets with OR materials. This seems logical to me because why create a subset if it can't keep all its OR materials? The whole point of the subset it seems to me is to save objects in a scene so they can be loaded into another but that's pointless if all the OR materials are lost.

1. Create a scene a define the octane materials.
2. Save the required parts of the scene as a scene subset.
3. Load the scene that you want to add your subset into.
4. Make sure "load octane materials from duf user presets" is ticked
5. load your scene subset
If no octane materials are created with the scene subset because you have "automatic material updates after content loads" unticked
6. Select the octane surfaces and create as new material from embedded data

Ok, thanks for your help. I'll try that out after I've rendered the current scene.

That's the problem, don't click "auto materials" select "materials from embedded data" or whatever it's called

Auto materials always create the materials from scratch.

That's the problem, don't click "auto materials" select "materials from embedded data" or whatever it's called

Auto materials always create the materials from scratch.
On this issue, I did try to click on embedded data when I loaded the subset originally but this option didn't seem available at the time for some reason. I don't know whether this information is saved with a subset. When I finish this project I'll have more time to test this out.

It is, that's how I use them. It's easy to get confused though!
