Available RAM

I now have 4 computers with Octane on them, each with a dedicated video card. But on each computer, when I load Octane, there is always a small portion of unavailable RAM.
On my computer i just finished yesterday, with a clean install of windows etc and no other programs running I have 2916 megs available of 3072 total but only 23 being used by Octane. Does anyone else have this problem?

Your desktop needs Vram and Octane itself needs Vram. You might need to configure a less Vram hungry desktop. Download GPU-Z to monitor your Vram.

but I have a dedicated display card that Octane does not use.
For instance, in this computer I have a Quadro 2000 for display and a GTX 780 Ti for Octane.
Shouldn't my computer just use the Quadro card? Both of my monitors are plugged into it and nothing is plugged into my 780.

Yes, that sounds incorrect for the Octane dedicated card. Maybe someone from Otoy could explain this.

It happens on all 4 of my computers. Each with a dedicated video card and 1-2 cards for Octane.
is it just me?

No it's not just you. My Titan has 6144MB but Octane says only 5891MB is available. GPU-Z says 0 MB is in use for that card, so every available Vram should be shown - but it doesn't.

I have also witnessed a loss of about 250mb of Vram on my dedicated card..

I don't know off hand, but Octane might be subtracting the size of the kernel from the total?
