Im trying to speed up my renderings and have an old GTX260 sitting in a box. Would it help to add it into my machine to speed up rendering?

Is it as simple as putting the extra card in the slot?

Sorry for the newbie question

Andrew

Hi there,

It is that simple, to insert the extra card intro the slot.
I do not know how much power with will bring to you, but yes, you insert the new card, and then you can use it in octane render.

Make sure you do select it for rendering in octane preferences.

check if compute is up to requirements of new OctaneRender .. have a feeling that 260 is a bit old..but I might be wrong.

other than that, if the card has enough vRam to fit with what You're playing with, have a spare pcie socket & psu to feed it then it's no problem.

I know it's an old card but if it works, then I might spend the money to get a faster one.

thanks guys! I'm gonna give it a try!

got it working guys!
the render says .29 Msamples/sec (not sure if that's fast, I didn't check what it was before!)
in any case it does 'seem' to be rendering faster so thanks for your input!
