Forest / Tree question

I'm still new to Octane and I'm trying to understand its capabilities with regard to vegetation.

In my tests with some Corona tree proxies I created, I can get away with about 10 trees before I reach Octane meltdown. However, with the Forest Pack demo, I can scatter thousands of trees and they render fine. Since it is the demo/lite version, I'm restricted to one 3D tree they provided and I can't do any real-world testing. I find it hard to believe that their tree is that much more efficient.

My question is this: if I get Forest Pro, will it allow me to use my Corona proxies in the same numbers as their tree?

(Note that I'm currently only using a GTX650Ti)

Forest Pack Lite and Pro both uses correct Octane proxy for their arrays.
But i.m not sure you did the same with your own (definately i'm sure you didn't :D ).

To create Octane proxy select in contex menu 'Octane properties -> Movable Proxy [V]'. And then you can Instance this object any amount of times for correct proxy generation.
(added: here's tut's link: http://render.otoy.com/manuals/3dsMax_1_5/?page_id=182)

Also Multiscatter uses correct Octane proxy.

So you can place any plants without high memory usage (due to high poly count) with instances generated by:
1) your own
2) Forest Lite/Pro
3) Multiscatter
4) should be other methods i dunno, but upper ones work fine.

If Forest Pro allows you to plant custom meshes then if will let you settle tonns of'em, if not - Multiscatter can do your request.

Just for info: with Forest Lite you can any 3D model, both from external libraries or your own models. Just assign it at Geometry->Custom Object.
You can find the differences between Lite and Pro here.
